At the
ELDR Leaders and Prime Ministers meeting held on June 21st in Brussels, President of LYMEC,
Roger Albinyana, regretted publicly that in spite of so many necessary and urgent topics for the EU to act on foreign and domestic issues, the 27 heads of state and government would be discussing at the Summit about power weights, institutional settings and cows.

Today the
33rd G8 summit is starting in the German Baltic Sea Resort Heiligendamm, focused on the theme
"Growth and responsibility", for three days of discussions which will include among its key focuses: climate change, economic issues and debt relief for Africa.
This is a promising agenda. However, whilst intentions prior to G8 summits are high, outcomes are often empty general messages. In the face of the pressing urgencies of today's world, the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) therefore asks G8 leaders to take their responsibility and commit to courageous actions, notably as regards climate change and world economic development.
Fredrick Federley MP stepped down this weekend as president of the Center Youth of Sweden (CUF) in Kalmar, Sweden. President of LYMEC Roger Albinyana gave an emotional farewell speech to president Federley after his more than 5 years in office. Magnus Andersson from the north of Sweden is the new president of the organisation.
The congress of CUF was well attended by nearly 300 delegates from all the regions in Sweden and included four days full of discussions on motions and resolutions. Several speeches from Ministers of the government –including the Vice-prime minister Maud Olofsson, MPs and other guests such as Frida Johansson, president of the Liberal Youth of Sweden (LUF) attended the congress to pass their greetings.

Under the focus of several French speaking media stations, LYMEC president Roger Albinyana attended the Congress of Jeunes-MR in Brussels three weeks before the federal elections in Belgium scheduled by June 10th. In his speech Albinyana expressed LYMEC’s support to the constant engagement of Jeunes-MR to strengthen the dialogue with the Flemish polital actors, while stating that “if we do not fight against prejudices, if we do not create bridges, if we do not interact and talk with each other or engage into a constructive dialogue, why are we then in politics?”.
